Jill Eckhaus

Jill K. Eckhaus is an associate at Hickey, O’Connor and Battle, LLP. Her litigation practice primarily focuses on healthcare defense and in the representation of corporate and individual insureds in medical malpractice defense claims, professional negligence, products liability and premise liability matters in state and federal courts.

Prior to joining HOB, Ms. Eckhaus practiced law in Chicago for a multi-national defense litigation firm, and a mid-size litigation defense law firm where she practiced in all of her current areas and had primary responsibility for case preparation involving complex commercial and catastrophic injury matters set for trial.  She successfully researched, drafted and argued motions to dismiss and motions in limine; she also analyzed insured liability and carrier exposure for both primary and excess carriers. Prior to entering private practice in 2013, Ms. Eckhaus was a senior assistant public defender with the DuPage Public Defender’s Office, Felony Division in Wheaton, Illinois where she successfully served as first chair trial counsel in the defense of multiple felony and misdemeanor jury trials, including taking 54 trials to verdict. 

Ms. Eckhaus received her Juris Doctor from The John Marshall Law School, Chicago, Illinois in May 2008. While in law school, she was a recurrent member of the Dean’s List, participated in moot court competition and was the recipient of the CALI Award for Excellence in Federal Criminal Law.

Ms. Eckhaus is licensed to practice law in Illinois and Wisconsin.  She is a member of the Illinois State Bar and the State Bar of Wisconsin and is also admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
Her professional affiliations also include the Chicago Bar Association, DuPage Association of Women’s Lawyers, DuPage County Bar Association, Illinois Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Wisconsin State Bar Association, CHRMS and the Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel (IDC).
